Abstract
Hospital is a place of work that has a high potential for work accidents. The presence of flammable materials, medical gases, ionizing radiation and chemicals requires serious attention to the safety of patients, staff and the public. The National Safety Council (NSC) report shows that the incidence of accidents in hospitals is 41% more than workers in other industries. Nurses are the most health workers with a composition of almost 60% of all other health workers in hospitals and are one of the professions that are often affected by work-related diseases. This study aims to determine the factors related to the attitude of nurses in using Personal Protective Equipment in the inpatient room at Harum Sisma Medika Hospital. The design of this research is descriptive quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The dependent variable studied was the attitude of nurses in using PPE. While the independent variables are intrinsic factors and extrinsic factors. This research was conducted at Harum Sisma Medika Hospital from April 21 to April 30 2019. In this study, the population was 100 nurses. The sample size was calculated using Slovin's theory, 50 samples were selected. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire using the Gittman Scale. The data analysis used was uni variate for each variable descriptively and used the Chi-square test method with a significance level of α= 0.05 to test the relationship between variables. In general, the majority of nurses' attitudes are categorized as good. Most of the educational backgrounds are D3 graduates. The majority have good knowledge. The tenure between more and less than 5 years is almost equal. The PPE in the hospital is quite complete, but most respondents feel uncomfortable. of the five intrinsic and extrinsic independent variables only 3 variables were significant, namely knowledge (p = 0.019), completeness (p = 0.00) and PPE comfort (p = 0.00)
